Crespo 'offered new Chelsea deal'

Hernan Crespo has been offered a new deal by Chelsea, according to a report in his native Argentina.
The striker, 30, has been linked with a move back to Italy where he played for Parma, Lazio, Inter Milan and AC Milan.
"Although I have two years still on my contract, they offered me a renewal," Crespo was quoted as saying in the daily newspaper La Nacion on Thursday.
"They're making me a proposal for when I'm 33 years old. That means one has done things well."
Crespo was speaking ahead of Argentina's departure for Europe ahead of the World Cup.
Asked whether he would stay in England, he said: "I don't know. My intention would be to return to Italy or go to Spain.
"At Chelsea they know that, over and above my being happy there.
"Club owner Roman Abramovich said to me: 'How can that be? The fans love you, the coach Jose Mourinho wants you, I offer to renew your contract and you want to leave?'"

Arsenal winger Robert Pires has agreed a two-year contract with Villarreal.
Pires will join on a free transfer subject to passing a medical - bringing to an end his six-year career as an Arsenal player.
"I have decided to accept a new challenge at Villarreal for the next two years of my career," said Pires on Arsenal's website.
Pires, 33, would have been out of contract with the Gunners in June but had been offered a new one-year deal.

AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko will decide if he is moving to English champions Chelsea on Friday.
An announcement had been expected on Thursday, but the striker's meeting with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has been delayed.
Chelsea are prepared to pay £35m to bring the 29-year-old to London on a four-year deal worth £130,000 a week.
But Milan have offered him a new deal which would keep him at the club on a £115,000 weekly wage until 2011.
Milan president Silvio Berlusconi said: "Shevchenko wants to leave but we will do everything we can to keep him." Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been keen to sign Shevchenko since taking charge of the club three years ago.

He has never previously indicated an intention to move to Chelsea, but he appears to have warmed to the idea this season.
Asked recently if he was heading for England, Shevchenko told Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper: "I'm considering it and you will know my decision on the 24th or 25th May.
"I never said I had made my mind up to go to Chelsea. I just said that I was thinking about it for family reasons."
Shevchenko had said earlier this month that he was considering leaving the club this summer for family reasons.

But he remains extremely popular with the Milan fans, who have a 10,000-signature petition urging him to stay.
He has insisted he would not be moving to Chelsea for financial reasons, saying: "When you play for a successful club, it is not easy to find the time to learn another language.
"I don't speak the language of my wife and my son." Shevchenko joined Milan from Dynamo Kiev in 1999 and has scored 19 Serie A goals this season.
He will captain Ukraine at the World Cup finals in Germany this summer.

The bitter fight between Chelsea and Manchester United for John Mikel Obi's signature could be over "within days".
The Nigerian teenager is set to sign a three-year deal with the English Premiership champions.
The 18-year-old midfielder has been at the centre of a protracted tug-of-war between Chelsea and United.
But a source close to Obi's camp has told BBC Sport that Obi's future will be resolved when he signs a US$15m contract with Chelsea.
This follows months of tortuous negotiations between Chelsea and United over the future of one of the most talented players to emerge from Africa in recent years.
Obi signed for United back in April 2005 from Norwegian side Lyn Oslo but within days, his agent claimed the contract was signed under duress and should be ruled null and void.
The Nigerian youngster then refused to move to Old Trafford and said he wanted to play for big-spending Chelsea instead.
Negotiations have rumbled on for months, but it is now believed that Chelsea have won the battle to sign the Nigerian international.
