With under 48 hours left until we kiss 2008 goodbye, many are taking stock of the year that was and a variety of videos have been put together reminding us of how the season has so far panned out for some of football’s biggest names.

12 months ago Amr Zaki was unknown to most outside Egypt. However, after just five months of plying his trade at Wigan, and bagging an impressive 11 goals so far this campaign, Zaki has propelled himself as one of the hottest striking talents around. It is hugely doubtful whether Steve Bruce will be able to hold onto his main goalscorer past the end of the season when a bidding war could well break out for the striker.

Highlights of Amr Zaki’s season so far can be seen here.

Arguably the most high profile transfer last summer saw AC Milan sign Ronaldinho from Barcelona for £14.6m. The 28-year-old had been experiencing a wretched time at in Catalonia, falling out of favour with Frank Rijkaard, piling on the pounds, and with huge doubts being placed about the Brazilian’s future. But moving to Italy appears to have given the bucked-tooth genius a new lease of life, with Ronaldinho having been in outstanding form for the Rossoneri so far this term.

In Ronaldinho’s absense at the Nou Camp, Theirry Henry has appeared to have finally settled at Barcelona. His first season in Spain after his move from Arsenal was largely a disappointment with Henry failing to hold down a place in the Barca starting line-up.

Yet, under new manager Pep Guardiola, the Frenchman has managed to get a lot more playing time under his belt, and with it his performances have been a marked improvement.

Highlights of Theirry Henry’s season so far can be seen here.

Lastly, Harry Kewell’s renaissance at Galatasaray has also been one of the unsung stories of this season so far. At Liverpool Kewell was a permanent fixture on the injury table with the Aussie never able to string together a decent run of games in attain the match fitness needed to play week in, week out in the Premier League.

Looking to resurrect his career, Kewell opted to move to Turkey and so far he has not looked back. Managing to keep his fitness in check, Kewell has so far scored nine goals this season with Gala winning every match in which their number 19 has his the net.

Highlights of Harry Kewell’s season so far can be seen here.

Armed thieves target Kewell's UK home

LONDON: Thieves armed with machetes have tried to break into the English home of Socceroos star Harry Kewell.

The attempted robbery happened while Kewell was away in Turkey, where he plays for league side Galatasaray.

His wife, British actor Sheree Murphy, was also away in Turkey with her husband at the time, but her mother, Heather, was at the couple's home looking after their three young children when the burglars attempted to rob the house.

Murphy said her mother had spotted the burglars in the garden of the couple's pound stg. 2.5million ($5.33 million) mansion and activated an alarm to scare them off. ``It was terrifying,'' Murphy told the Daily Mirror, which said the incident happened last year. ``They jumped over our gates and were trying to kick the door in. Then they started attacking the door with knives.''

Kewell'ı izledikçe aklıma, "Down under" larıyla isim yapmış Avustralya'lı ünlü "Men at Work" grubu geliyor....
Sanki Kewell'da kendi başına bir "Man at Work" ...
"Men at Work" nasıl çalıyorsa Kewell'da öyle oynuyor.. Hep canlı, hep kıpır kıpır..

En azindan adamin formasindan para kazaniliyor. Acaba kac tane Lincoln, Nonda, U. Karan, ve Sabri formasi satildi. Belki Arda yakin markajla takip ediyordun Kewell'i.

Fury bolstered by return of Talay

THE nearly forgotten man of the North Queensland Fury, Ufuk Talay, has declared himself ready for A-League selection as the club begins its hunt for respect this week.

After months of injury-bred frustration, the 33-year-old midfielder is back in full training with the squad and has all but been given a clearance to play by club medical staff.

Talay completed his first full session yesterday morning -- a vigorous effort where he held nothing back in his bid to play against Melbourne in Townsville on Saturday.

``It's going well . . . hopefully I'll be up for selection this week,'' he said.

``I think it's been close to three months now since I have been injured and I have just been dying watching the boys on the park and not being able to kick a ball.

``So I am really looking forward to getting through the week and hopefully not getting any niggling injuries again and playing on the weekend.''

Talay, who played 59 games with Sydney FC between 2005 and '08, suffered a 3cm tear to his right calf muscle in late April, ruling him out of the majority of the pre-season.

Now a full week on the training paddock and the nod from coach Ian Ferguson is seemingly all that stands between him and a long-awaited return.

``If things go well, I think it really comes down to the gaffer (Ferguson) and deciding if he wants to play me or not,'' Talay said.

``Look, I'll be working hard this week, obviously you want to be up for selection for playing against Melbourne and hopefully everything goes well.''

Talay's availability could not come at a better time for the Fury following their 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Gold Coast United on the weekend. After conceding eight goals in their opening two rounds, North Queensland are desperately looking to tighten the screws at the back and restore some pride.

Talay, a former Galatasaray player, could prove the boost needed.

``He's a player that we have missed obviously, with his experience and the level he's played at, he was always going to be one of my first-choice players,'' Ferguson said.

``We'll have to see how he goes, we can't rush him back, he's got to do the training first, but if he comes through that then he will definitely start.''

But Talay was not about to label himself the team's saviour.

``Everyone is out there to do a job and hopefully, if I'm involved, then hopefully I do the job to the best of my ability,'' he said.

While Talay's availability is welcome news, the Fury have revealed they are still on the lookout for a quality Australian midfielder/defender to replace injured Jacob Timpano.

The A-League grand final winner is set to be sidelined for up to three months, allowing North Queensland FC to sign a short-term replacement.

Meanwhile, the results of scans on Robbie Middleby (foot) and Jason Spagnuolo (hamstring) will be released this morning.

Fanatiğin haberine göre Kewell sözleşme uzatmak istiyormuş. Sallama bir haber olabilir. Doğru olmasını umuyorum. Aslında teklif yönetimden gelmeliydi. Yada gelmeli. Böyle faydalı ve güvenilir birini bulmak kolay değil. Üstelik sorunsuz ve kaliteli.
